Carpet - the best choice for allergy sufferers

Carpet as an allergy-friendly floor covering is a widely underestimated option. It is often assumed that hard, smooth floors such as parquet or laminate are more suitable for allergy sufferers. However, the latest scientific findings confirm that carpets can be an excellent choice for people with allergies such as house dust allergies, animal hair allergies and pollen allergies. The reason for this is their unique ability to bind allergy-causing substances and hold them safely within their fibres.

Trapping and reducing allergens in carpet fibres

House dust allergies are widespread, and it's often tiny dust mites that cause the problems. These tiny arachnids feed on dead skin flakes and leave allergens in their faeces. These droppings can become airborne and trigger allergic reactions, especially if the flooring raises dust. Carpets can help to bind these allergens and prevent them from becoming airborne.

Animal dander is another common cause of allergic reactions. The fibres of carpets trap animal hair and thus reduce the amount of allergens in the room air. Even pollen, which can trigger seasonal allergies, is trapped by carpets, minimising the risk of pollen particles being brought indoors.

Further advantages of carpets

Carpets not only offer added health benefits for allergy sufferers, but also a number of other advantages. They contribute to sound insulation by absorbing sound waves and creating pleasant room acoustics. This is particularly important in bedrooms and living rooms, where peace and comfort are valued.

Another advantage of carpets (overview page carpets) is their ability to provide warmth and comfort. The soft, cosy surface feels pleasant on the feet and provides additional cosiness, especially in the colder months.

Modern carpets are designed to be easy to clean. Regular vacuuming and occasional professional cleaning help to keep carpets clean and allergen-free. A hoover with a high-quality HEPA filter is particularly effective at removing allergens from carpets.

Variety in design, size and style

The selection of carpets is broad and offers the right floor covering for every taste and every interior. Whether you prefer a modern, minimalist look or want to create a traditional, cosy space, there's a carpet to suit your style.

Even if you have concerns about room size, there is the option of custom-made rugs (fitted rugs). These are cut to the exact dimensions of your room and fit perfectly.

By choosing a rug for your home, you can not only benefit from a beautiful and cosy floor covering, but also minimise your allergy symptoms. Make carpets your favourite choice for a healthy and comfortable home.
